Slumber Pretty…

sleep

Hello Darlings! Madame X here, giving you your weekly dose of my musings and random posts about life, fashion, food and whatever else tickles my fancy.

This past week, I finally went through my stockade of hoarded fabrics and wondered how to go about creating some special magic with them.  I thought of what I love to do and one thing I love is getting my beauty sleep!  There aren’t many things that can compare to living a full day, winding down in the evening and then hitting a good book before heading off to the boudoir.  8 hours usually does it for me, anything less leaves me tired, and anything more gives me a head ache and feeling grumpy.  I do believe it helps keep me young!

I notice there’s too much light coming in through my windows at night, so I decided to make some sleep masks to help me filter out the glare.  I hand made and sewed several styles, all decorated with a bow, a dash of pearls or rhinestones for added panache and even managed to find some matching vintage golden lamé bias binding. I used brocades, silks and unique cotton prints and was happy with the results.

Plugging along…singing a song…

Hello Darlings! Thank you for joining me each and every week, I know my mental meanderings weave in and out like a drunken bumble bee sometimes…but I am a girl of many talents if I dare say so myself.

I have (finally) got myself on some sort of a schedule the last couple of months, which helps to keep me on track. I don’t know about you, but being the gypsy heart, I tend to need a bit of discipline to be productive…otherwise I would just sit in the boudoir frittering my life away and looking at pretty books and sipping tea (though, not a bad idea if one thinks about it)!

So it is, that each week I map out the week, this past week, I’ve been working with cute pink stars, crystals and lace.  I have been concentrating more on some pretty accessories.  Soon I hope to get back to more boudoir pieces, such as the lingerie…so many ideas!  See, Darlings, how my mind flies to all things?  In any case…you know where to find me…

Hello Darlings, Madame X here, the weeks have flown by and we are now in the midst of April…sometimes it feels like the year flies by quicker every year.  I for one have been enjoying the mild climate of SoCal, neither too hot nor too cold. This year I have yet to make my way over to the lovely beaches of this region, for shame! It’s important not to take things like that for granted.  Many years ago my family lived near Atlantic City and after a few years, the only time we ever went to Atlantic City or the famous boardwalk was when visitors were in town.  I suppose it is human nature to become accustomed to one’s surroundings and take for granted the beautiful enjoyments their area has to offer.

Realizing this, I have been taking more day trips in order to explore and take in the sights I may have overlooked.  Last week I was able to go to beautiful Palm Desert and take in a show, Dame Edna’s Farewell Tour.  Dame Edna has got to be one of my all time favorite DIVAS!  I know no one else who can sport a rhinestone encrusted dress, blinged out cat eye glasses and “wisteria” hue lilac hair!  I suppose, Darlings, the moral of this story is to get out and explore your world, no matter what corner of it you inhabit. I don’t know about you, but I sometimes get stuck indoors too long and before you know it, the time has flown!

…’til next time Darlings, back next week with some pretty new items in the shop.

Hello Darlings, Madame X here…hoping you are enjoying the start of a new Spring full of possibilities and dreams. This time of year has me brimming with ideas and hopes. The past month brought friends from out of town, a mischievous moon and focusing on getting some new and pretty things into the online shop.  On my day trips, I picked up some lovely beads, boas and flowers. I’ve incorporated a melange of bright and pretty colors into a variety of bracelets.

My creations are always such diametrically different combinations.  I can never decide whether to go with soft pastel hues, such as pink and lavender, or classic black and white…so…I did it all!  I love the brightness of reds/hot pink, the tranquil turquoise paired with sparkling rhinestones and the morose black glass with skulls playing alongside them.

OH, your cheetah heart…or a leopard will never change its spots!

Grrrr Darlings...Ava Gardner in leopard print and fishnets

Grrrr Darlings…Ava Gardner in leopard print and fishnets

Hello Darlings! February already and you know what that means…yes..we are bombarded by a plethora of hearts, flowers, candies and cards in all shades of sweet pinks and reds.  Come to think of it, those things should be in your life most days, which for me it is…I love to surround myself with color and light…EVERY day is special Darlings…so make sure you take the time to visit loved ones and to reach out to the forgotten.  Sharing smiles is the BEST accessory!

As is usually the case, Madame X has been working on some adorable little toppers for those who wish to put their best foot forward….or paws, in this case.  I simply adore a beautiful leopard print, (faux of course!)  This week I created a little chapeau to crown one’s hair, made of blushing felt leopard spots…sprinkled it with shirred red heart tulle and placed a glittering scarlet heart in its center.  It clips easily to hair and can be worn to any occasion.  Gurrrrrrrls beware of breaking hearts and racing pulses…it’s purrrrfectly enchanting … just make sure to avoid the cheetahs though, they’re players.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead…

What’s the news, Darlings?

Hello Darlings! I hope everyone is enjoying their first week of the new year! While I do so love the holidays, it does bring a touch of madness to it all and I for one am glad to be getting back to business.

Though Madame X is still a new and budding venture, there is so much to do and learn!  I am excited about all the possibilities…my mind reels Darlings!  Admittedly it is quite difficult to remain focused with so many ideas brimming in my mind.  Madame X is poised to bring more lingerie and embellished items to the online store.  However, Madame X plans to partake in trunk shows and pop ups with fellow creatives, maybe even branch out to home decor, accessories and one of a kind tea parties…oo-la-la…I am getting ahead of myself…but we must dream big Darlings and visualize in order to manifest our desires…born

Oh, to live in a world surrounded by glitter and golden moments…I think to myself, how all these years that is what was missing in my life…so I will continue to follow this passion for magic and when the patina has set in, I can at least say I have danced, Darlings…and whether big or small, remember to DREAM!

Happy New Year to my Darling Madame Xers!

Happy New Year Darlings, from Madame X…I must say that this year has been both trying and fascinating and am bubbling over with excitement for the changes coming in 2015.  Madame X has only just launched a few short months ago and the positive support has been a constant source of joy!  Though there is a long way to go, I find it most encouraging that Madame X is starting to gain momentum.  It is important to help foster start up business owners, and help each other prosper.

I truly believe that sharing is caring and the more you give, the more you receive.  Giving to charitable causes is a great example of this.  Here are a few of the organizations whose work I would like to share with you…

…and if you are unable to donate money, there are numerous other ways to help charitable causes, such as donating gently used items, providing meals, tutoring, volunteering, providing transportation, using your skills, or spending time with those in need!

Have a safe and Happy New Year Darlings!

Happy Holidays Darlings!

Why yes, I shall wear a pink tulle gown while I decorate the tree with roses...doesn't everyone?

Why yes, I shall wear a pink tulle gown while I decorate the tree with roses…doesn’t everyone?

Hello Darlings…Madame X here…wishing everyone a Happy Holiday, whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or are taking some time off to spend with loved ones…I hope you enjoy it in health and happiness!

Darlings, I have the tree up (pink, of course) and the atelier is filled with glitter, tinsel, ribbon and lace…I do so try not to make a mess, but, alas, it is beyond my reach sometimes!

I did finally fulfill my promise to provide fun, frilly and colorful lingerie to the online shop and I must say, they are not your average knickers!  Here is one that reminds me of the vivid reds and greens of the season:

This lovely pair is hand decorated with red tassels and vintage French velvet green ribbons for added flair, it is one of a kind.  It’s not for everyone, but that’s what makes us all unique, I see it going into a boudoir that belongs to a kindred spirit who loves color and passion!

Tell me Darlings, are there any special traditions or recipes you have for the holidays? Do share!

Show and Tell!

Hello Darlings! It is my sincere hope that you are enjoying a FAB-ulous day no matter where you are.

The past few weeks Madame X has been laying low and working behind the scenes to create  some precocious pretty pieces for the shop.  Sometimes, it takes quite a bit of caffeine and mad sketch sessions to come up with ideas and inspiration.  Once I do happen upon the chosen project, I go into “zen” mode, both an intense but meditative focus on churning out whatever whim the muse has led me to, be it a hat, illustration, poem or garment.

Darlings, at present I find myself surrounded by the prettiest lace, buttons, glitter, ribbons and tulle…sometimes I’m not sure if I’m in the boudoir or my work room!  Every day I encounter a melange of colors, textures and the magic that is my imagination…white lace and striped ribbon?  pink mesh and yellow flowers? black with red tartan? pearls and feathers? crystals and fringe?  Decisions, decisions!

These are two newly finished pieces, one is a lovely citrine lace panty with tulle and satin bows, the other a baby blue one with lace panel and pink tulle mesh and flowers.  I know they will both go to lovely ladies who seek a unique, fun look!

Madame X update…

Darlings, I have been bad, but I’ve not forgotten you…no,no,no. I have been busy creating new pretty, frilly, sexy things for the shop and boudoir…delicate and hand embellished items to cherish for “sexy time” … because a girl who knows her mind is both fierce and fabulous! Some new one of a kind lingerie will be available this week for you to add to your collection.

Remember, the most important thing a person can wear is CONFIDENCE, so wear it well and always remember to be YOU-nique!
