Ghoul girls are BOO-rrifick!

Hello Darlings, Madame X here, hoping you are as excited as I am with Halloween being just around the corner! Darlings, this time of year I am reminded of the wonderful dark divas who influenced fashion. Some of my favorites are “Vampira,” the statuesque vampiress of the 1950’s, her corseted floor length black dresses were a stark contrast to the voluminous crinoline skirts of that era. A true original!

And who could forget the pale Lily Munster? She was modeled after the bride of Frankenstein and would float around her chic Victorian mansion in pale chiffon peignoir and striped hair…I always thought her to be the true beauty, not her squeaky clean niece, Marilyn.

Some of my other favorite morbid muses include Morticia Addams, Lydia Deetz (from Beetlejuice), Elvira, and…oh, those cute twins from The Shining!

They arguably helped provide a sense of macabre style as a counterpoint to some of the brighter, lighthearted bubble gum options of the day.

Until next time, my immortal beloveds…

xoxo
